Gr11 Impressionist COMPETITION

Hi Grade 11's, just a quick reminder of the Impressionist oil painting competition next term. The best ones will be purchased for the school. Woohoo FAME & FORTUNE!!! Take your cameras out, getting snapping beautiful scenes this holiday & practise your painting techniques. Have a look at the following contemporary Impressionist painter Nancy Lindsay for some inspiration. (http://www.nancylindsay.com/)

Contemporary Conceptual Art

Just for the Matrics as we study Conceptual Art: Dutch artist Berndnaut Smilde has created a installation where, by controlling the humidity and atmospheric pressure in a room, he can conjure up surreal clouds that float elegantly inside a room. An ephemeral beauty that lasts for just a moment but is captured forever as a photograph, proving Daliesque scenes can occur with a little help from science.

Gr10 Textural paintings

Have a look at some of the Grade 10's textural paintings this term. Their task was to focus on creating texture, through using unusual techniques, paint and mixed media. They used everything from sugar and glue, to leaves, frottage, tissue paper and string. Well done Grade 10's!

Gr11 Pencil portraits

A few examples of the lovely pencil self portraits the Matrics completed at the end of their Gr11 year. So interesting how each has such a different style.

coffee anyone?

Matrics, thinking about different media? Have a look at this - Japanese artist Red Hong, took 12 hours to make this portrait - entirely from coffee stains. Pretty cool!
