The Annual Grade 9 Trash Fashion Bash
The Annual Trash fashion bash was a great success. The effort and creativity shown by this years grade 9's was admirable. As a creative teamworking assignment, the Grade 9's were tasked with completing the design and creation of clothing and accessories from recycled/recycleable materials. They then had to model their outfits in a special fashion show, carefully considering the music, advertisement and presentation of their work. This years show was a great success and the Grade 9's can be proud of what they achieved!

The Grade 9 " Goldsworthy" Nature Prac
In Autumn this year, the Grade 9's were tasked with creating a transitory artwork inspired by British Nature artist Andy Goldsworthy. It was a perfect time of year with all the russet and golden leaves falling; and the results were quite impressive & the grade 9's really enjoyed the opportunity to be outside the classroom.

It seems as though the Grade 11 Oil Painting assignment and competition was a great success.
Mr Wyattminter chose the top 6 paintings, and the artists were presented with their winnings by Mr Cato. The school purchased the paintings and they will be exhibited in the staff dining room. (Fame and Fortune!)
The results are as follows (and in order) : Marc Neilson, Reitumetse Magongoa, Siemon Van Lengeling, Brandon Dixon, Laura Allardyce and Jessica Young.
Well done to you all!! (from a very proud Mrs Allen)
A further three paintings were chosen by Mrs Allen, the artists are Tess Miles, Rosanne Whitfield and Danielle Cochran. Well done girls.
Exams exams!
Just because I'm so chuffed with my Grade 10's exam results, here are a few examples of the lovely still life drawings they created for their June Drawing exam.

Grade 9 'Body Map" creativity
This term, as a free expressive, fun assignment, the Grade 9's were tasked with creating a 'Body Map' that reflected their personality through visual imagery and symbolic colour. They had to trace their 'body shape' onto card and fill the positive/negative shapes in any way they liked, using creative ideas, artistic techniques and materials. There were some lovely results, have a look! (More to come...)

Current happenings in the Art dept
This term the art department is pretty busy: We are making giant paper mache trees and painting two large backdrops for this year's production of Midsummer nights dream. The Grade 11 class is also painting forest panels for the theatre entrance. (As well as completing their Impressionistic oil painting assigment.)
The Grade 9's are beginning an exciting "Andy Goldsworthy" inspired project. With all the lovely Autumn colours now at Treverton, their task is to creat their own environmental artwork, using only materials found in Nature.
The Grade 10's are working with clay, making canopic jars (linking to their Egyptian art history section) as for the first time, we have our own kiln! Hooray! (Thankyou accounts dept!)
